Sew tired.

It's been a wacky weekend. Never fully recovered from the overnight with 64 2nd graders at the Museum Friday night. I've been in a rainy, sleepy, grumpy funk all weekend. Finally got the energy to start an art project, and I'm feeling a bit better now that I've produced something. I'm sure the microwave burrito, hot chocolate, full bag of popcorn, half-pint of ben & jerry's, and three episodes of Felicity didn't hurt either.

Finally managed to fuse some plastic bags without burning through them or making a big mess! Thanks to threadbanger for the how-to.

Thought I'd start out with one of those wallets from last week, only with the fused plastic "fabric". I like how it turned out - especially the iparty bag on the inside (Paper goods! Helium!) and how the Target circles accidentally overlapped to make kind of creepy smiley faces on the outside. I think this is a more masculine version of the wallet...I'll save it for Paul at the Museum...I think his birthday is coming up.

Moni inspired me to revisit the mug cozies I made for Christmas presents. This is my very own. There was much debate about the right button to use...too many choices! But I like it. Can't wait to drink my tea in style.

Here's hoping for a Monday morning that's rainy-tired-grumpy-funk-free. Happy Crafting!

Questions...

What a week I've had! So simple - work, delicious food, my favorite tv shows, and good hang out time. La la la.

Today, I made a case for my glasses. Found my inspiration here at the Sewing Republic. But I feel like something is missing.

What do I need to add?

I also got the fabric I ordered from Etsy. I love it!!

Look at how cute this kitchen pattern is! I can't wait to make something out of it...an apron maybe?

And last night had a little moment with my new sushi set from Frog & Toad. MMmm...eating sushi with my set makes me so happy!

Earlier this week, I put together these four patchwork scrappy wallets from the pattern here.

I claimed one as my own already, but what should I do with the other three? I'm starting to have some inventory...not sure what to do with it. Haven't really got my Etsy shop up and running yet, and for some reason something is stopping me from doing so. Should I just give them away?

Things to think about...
Well, until next week - happy crafting!

Feelin' Lucky

Elliott and I threw a St. Patrick's Day bash last night. It included fun stuff like crazy green outfits, lots of sb employees and customers, lucky charms marshmallow treats, a limerick contest, russian ice dancers, a pot o gold (fish), and lots and lots o beer.

One highlight of the night may have been when I was sitting next to Sam on the couch, and as he was telling me a story I was somewhat distracted by the stitching on his stylin' green blazer. Miles totally called me out on it. What can I say? I'm a craftaholic.

Today, after cleaning up aforementioned lots and lots o beer, I made this wall hanging to go next to my bed. Now I can keep my books and glasses super handy. Found the tutorial I based it on here.

There were also some baking pursuits this week that I don't really feel like talking about. And by "pursuits" I mean mishaps. And by "I" I mean myself and all of my neighbors who had to deal with multiple fire alarm incidents. I've decided to stick to what I know: pie. No more cookies for me. It's official.

Until next week, happy crafting!

Feelin' Green

Busy week this week! Lots of prep for my first overnight with the girl scouts at the Museum, and then a lot of sleeping to catch up on all the zzzzzz's that didn't happen on Friday night. Found some time today to do some catch-up crafting, a little prep for our St. Patrick's Day bash, and a new project from the book Elliott gave me for Christmas.

Repaired a pair of earrings for Liz at work, and it reminded me that I haven't worked these wallpaper earrings in a year. Yet they've all been hanging on my wall all this time...

Pulled out some green albums (including "A child's introduction to sex" - amazing!) and other green things to decorate the mantle.

And some of my other favorite green things - thread, fabric scraps, yarn, ribbon, and tea bags to decorate the kitchen table.

I'm definitely feeling ready for a party.

Adrienne and I crafternooned today, and I made this cute sewing basket. Once again, loving this fabric! Soon it will be time to go back to VT so I can get some more fat quarters. Oh, and visit M & D.

Hoping for a relaxing week this week - more time for sewing! Happy crafting!

Food, glorious food (and lack thereof)

Pretty much everyone in the state of Rhode Island caught the 24-hour stomach bug this past week - including myself, Elliott, and Steffi. Eating was not much of an option all week...just saltines, jello, and applesauce. So, after waking up on Saturday suddenly feeling hungry, I decided to go absolutely all-out yesterday in the kitchen.

Made Mom's famous three-bean-actually-four-bean salad.

Newly improved banana muffins - this time with walnuts and oats.

To celebrate the start of March, I made two big loaves of the Rooney family Irish Soda bread. It didn't quite come out like Momma's, but it certainly hits the spot.

Also made that turkey squash soup again, and prepped my maple chicken and sweet potato bake for when Emily comes over for dinner tonight. Then I tried my hand at Sara's Mom's chocolate chip cookie recipe. They are chocolatey-delicious, and of course I had to go for the fancy chocolate chips. For cookies, I think I did okay. But I'm going to stick to my standards - soup, muffins, and pie.

And sewing. Made this cute little clutch on Saturday. For some reason I've been dying to put these two fabrics together.

I think the big red button is my favorite part. And also the fact that I figured this out without a pattern! On the first try!

Til next week, happy crafting!
